Some of you regulars may have noticed a surge in 30 second commercial parodies being promoted on this site in the last 2 weeks.  We're all in the same program at college and we all have to do the same project.  Write, produce, and edit a commercial parody.  The second half of the assignment is to get 200 hits on Youtube in 2 weeks. 

Some people have had their video up for 2 weeks, and have yet to crack 200 views.  Mark posted his yesterday morning, and already has 500. 

So yeah, the joke is on us.

Its a shitty point, and your friend has 500 undeserved hits on his video.  I hope you know that's 500 people who thought the video was absolute shit and that that's not a good thing. I also fail to believe your assignment was to get 200 hits on youtube, or that your assignment required you to cheat the system in order to get 200 hits.

200 views? Only? Seriously? Put a pretty girl in the middle of the video and, whether or not you put ANYTHING in the tag lines, you'll have 500 views the first day. If you make something that's actually worthwhile and promote it a little, you'll get a few thousand views in a week or so due to word of mouth. However, the video here did not feature a pretty girl, nor was it good. It was shoddily edited (missing the first few seconds and making the ending a jumbled mess) and poorly acted, not to mention dimly lit (something that, if he was going for a Billy Mays parody, is not a good idea since Billy Mays' commercials were well lit) If this were a good video, someone may share it with friends on facebook, or on some messageboard, or via e-mail. As it is, if anyone outside your little group who sees this spreads it to any friends, it will be to laugh at the ineptitude of it rather than the joke. Your friend is lucky that 200 views is so easily attainable, and that it wasn't something like 5,000 views, else he'd fail that second half.

See, you're missing the point.  I'm not defending the video.  Even if I wanted to, I couldn't defend the quality of the video.  Pretty much everything you said about it was spot on.

See, you're missing the point.  I'm not defending the video.  Even if I wanted to, I couldn't defend the quality of the video.  Pretty much everything you said about it was spot on.

No, you're missing the point. This is a section for people to post videos they'd like to sell to Cracked. This isn't a section for people to post their half-assed attempts at getting a passing grade. We don't have a forum for that because that's incredibly stupid.

And you can feel free to defend it all you like but it doesn't change the fact that the OP was dishonest about his intention in posting the video, was somehow incapable of reading the forum rules, simply disregarded all the rules, or some horrible combination of these things.

Finally, any hate OP is receiving is the result of you revealing his intention in posting said video and then proceeding to parade around like you've actually managed to accomplish something of significance.
