Another graphic novel adaptation. Has anyone read it? I haven't, but it sounds like an awesome story. In short it's about an STD that mutates teenagers into monsters.

I just heard about this though I can't find any news about it more recent than a year old. Neil Gaiman and Roger Avery were set to write it, but unfortunately they seem to have come up against creative differences with Fincher.

David Fincher is perfect for adapting Black Hole. Recall the house of the dude that was kept alive in his bed for a year in Se7en, or Marla Singer's appartment in Fight Club -  dark visuals are a strength of Fincher's as a director, and they are a major part of why Black Hole was such a great graphic novel to read.

Now that you've put the thought in my mind, I'm hoping like hell this thing works out.

Oh, its a movie. Phew.

The story sounds interesting, I might pick up some of the comics while I'm out and about.

Here's a short movie by Charles Burns, writer & artist of Black Hole, to give you a taste of what his work is like.

Part 2

This might be mildly NSFW.

It's an excellent graphic novel, and there couldn't be a better director for it than Fincher. The story is a bluntly allegorical tale about a group of teenagers in the 70s infected with bizarre mutations, which they spread amongst themselves through sex. Some of them can pass as normal (just with slightly more than the standard number of vaginas) but others become hideous freaks who are forced to hide in the local forest. Some of the mutants learn to live with themselves; others do not, with tragic results.

I bet Fincher's itching to make a dark piece of work after the saccharine fagfest that was Benjamin Button, and I think he can actually make this film darker than the source material if he wants to. The graphic novel seems unfocused in places, and judging from the excellent job Fincher did at adapting Fight Club (superior to the novel, in my opinion) this is very promising indeed.

If he stays true to the novel, I can already see the Black Hole drinking game: you have to take a shot every time you see a blatant and entirely unnecessary vagina metaphor. You'll be drunk before the end of the opening credits.

My friend let me borrow the hardcover of all the issues a while ago, but I left it sitting on my bookshelf until not 15 minutes ago. I'm not very far in, but I think I have seen enough vagina type things to trick myself into thinking I am a pimp of the pimpest sort.

I-mockery posted a review of the series last year. It looks interesting.

I kinda liked the graphic novel. I thought it had a bit too poetic imagery from time to time

Bit if Fincher is doing it, I'd watch it
