There's nothing wrong with your eyes. It'll probably be similar to that part in the first Modern Warfare when you see through the eyes of the former president of that fictional Middle Eastern nation as he's executed.

Ho-lee fuck.

I am guessing, based on how over-the-top/awesome they seem to be going with this game, that the final boss is a T-1000.

Man, war has gotten sooooo much cooler since WW1. I'm starting to believe that the execution of innocent civilians is just a distraction from the tanks blowing down suburbanite American homes.

Looks brilliant.  I'm interested to see if during missions they have civilians running around.  That could deter me from using my pray and spray technique when running through missions.

Oh how naive I was.

There will be no console or lean in Modern Warfare 2 pc.

I wasn't really planning on spending any time with the multiplayer, so the p2p hosting and what not aren't really that big of a deal to me. The removal of lean is kind of weird though.

In addition, the chat revealed that there will be no record option (for now) in MW2, nor the option to kick players out of ranked matches.

I'm starting to suspect that none of the people behind this game have ever actually played a video game online.

Goddamit. Although it was annoying when your teammates would all of a sudden run towards the exact spots where you decided to drop artillery, the automatic kick player feature in WaW that I wished CoD4 had that saved me a lot of time having to deal with team killing assholes. I don't understand why IW wouldn't put that option in a game such as this one.

I'm going to be pissed the first time some douche pulls out his RPG and blows the team to hell on Hardcore Search and Destroy. That was a problem they needed to fix and, assuming that the article is legit, I'm shocked that they don't plan on changing it.

Oh fuck right off

As pretty as the trailers look, I'm not sure I can justify spending 90 bucks on this when it seems every new piece of news reveals some other way they've fucked it up.

I think they tried too hard.  Why not just add some more guns, clean up multiplayer (ability to kick players), add some new perks, and have a new story mode?  Thats all I was hoping for.  Not some space/killing civilians hooplah.

If they'd done that everyone would be whinging that they hadn't done enough and it wasn't a proper sequel.

This is one of many (well... two) reasons I probably won't be buying this game after five months of looking forward to its release.

Okay... I am officially a hypocritical dickslot.

I went ahead and preordered this today, despite the fact that IW has given me two or three new reasons not to do so since I posted that comment.

The kicker was remembering when CoD4 came out. I was nearing the end of the single player campaign when I thought, "this game is amazing. Even without multiplayer it would have been worth the price." In the end, I went back and played through the campaign four times or so, to collect all the hidden pieces of intel, and had tons of fun throughout.

The optimist in me keeps saying that all of the seemingly shit decisions they've made regarding this release were because of a desire to release a game which would require as few fixes as possible, and that, in the end, they would patch in some of the things that helped make CoD4 on pc so great in the first place.

I know I'm pulling a complete 180 here, but I hope think they know what they're doing.

Also, here's a transcript of a Q&A a couple of their devs did a few days ago with more than a few concerned pc gamers asking questions. They were pretty diplomatic in their responses, but I picked up on a vibe that they are likely to "fix" some of the crap we've been going over in this thread. Remember: these guys didn't get where they are now by pissing off gamers.

Something I noticed in that transcript:

Mackey-IW: You can easily mute players, and hardcore (friendly fire enabled ) SD has "ricochet" which makes you hurt yourself instead.

So wait, if you shoot someone in S&D, you get hurt? Interesting idea. Do they get hurt too? Or am I missing something?

I'm curious to see how this works out.

My copy came today, played the campaign for a few hours and a short while online. Overall I'd say they did a good job of adding to the game, without changing what made it great. (Apart from the PC stuff.) Can't really compare between them in detail, cause I got the first for PC and this one for Xbox 360.

The graphics are great, and there's plenty of detail through the levels. Loads of new weapons and other toys to play with, and I'm not that far through the game. For example; there's an ACOG sight that shows body heat, for shooting people through smoke. I've played with the Predator missile; you open up the case and a UAV circles above, when you fire, you guide the missile to its target through the nose camera. An assault rifle with an underslung shotgun. I'm a little bit unsure about the dual wield machine pistols though. You pick them up as a set, like in Goldeneye, rather than pick up one, then find another like Halo 3, and obviously you can't aim down the sight. It just feels a little “Rambo” for a game like Modern Warfare.

I've played through THAT level. You are in complete control, even though the walking speed is restricted until the SWAT guys show up. I did fire into crowds, but I'm not sure how many I actually hit. Its probably possible to play through without shooting anyone.

Also, I noticed on World at War you can only play Deathmatch or Team Deathmatch until you unlock the other modes by gaining in rank. I thought that was just Treyarch being dicks, but Infinity Ward have done it with Modern Warfare 2. Was it the same for the first Modern Warfare on console? Because I hate Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch; I only ever play Search and Destroy, Sabotage, Headquaters or occasionally Domination. It really puts me off playing multiplayer, I read they're going to reset all the stats on Tuesday ,so there's really not much point in me playing till then.

Wow, that's pretty brilliant actually. Keep it so people still have to watch their fire, and no one will want to be a dickhead if they're the ones who get killed.

I sorta recall you having to play those modes until you reached a certain level but that didn't apply once you went through prestige.

So jealous. One of my friends has pretty much already beat the game. I'm just curious as to how all these copies were readily availible, yet I still have to wait till midnight Monday to pick that shit up. Gotta grab one of those fancy shmancy controllers to make myself feel better.

Well I just picked this up from the midnight launch in Australia. It's taking awhile to install.
I was surprised at how many people were actually there for the launch though.

I'll probably be picking this up a couple of months after release. Unless the game is absolutely amazing, I've already played Call of Duty 4, and I won't pay £55 retail price. I was also interested in picking up the PC version, but after the disappointing announcements about the PC port I think I'll just go with the PS3 version.
