I thought that too, but then I realized that realistically, radio transmissions that far out would be many years old. Perhaps it's further in the future than the 60's.

That is a good point.  It's just so hard to tell how far out they are.  However, for the story to continue, they at least have to be a good fourth season away. Frack.

Unless they have a whole season going around solving problems earth like the old BSG.  Good, God that would be horrible.  The Season Finale was pretty good, except that I really wasn't such a fan of the whole court arc; it just seemed so unrealistic.  I mean maybe its just because I've watched to much law and order, but so much of that stuff they did in court was ridiculous.  And even though they acquitted Baltar for that death warrant, they could have charged him for treason for so many other things he did, like giving the Cylons information on how to get to earth.

Anyways, really cool ending, and I liked Colonel Tigh's little speech at the end.

That was fairly awesome, although I guess I was expecting last year's finale of mindblowing awesomeness, and it'd be hard to top that.

So, wait, Chief has a kid - isn't it a Cybrid like Hera?

Kara was riding in her Viper, right?  So it didn't actually blow up at all?  Which puts a point in the "she's probably not a Cylon" column - I was all excited about her being the 5th Cylon.  Oh well, Earth, yay!

Also, TWO THOUSAND AND EIGHT?!?

I had to write that out because it is difficult to put numbers in all caps otherwise.

Exactly.  That's gonna be so huge in the next season.  I'm on all these other forums reading and people are insisting that Kara is the fifth cylon.  Obviously she is in her same raptor like you said plus they had that whole flashback deal with her and her mom.  Man I missed this forum.  So much smart, so little dumb.  Good to be back.

Thank god.  I was getting tired of Tigh's cream colored eyepatch.

The only evidence they had for that was Roslyn's drug-induced hallucination, years after the fact.  The prosecutor had even said as much...that she was only going to try him for things which could be proved.

You don't have to wait until 2008 to watch more new BSG actually. It looks like the season 4 story is going to kick off in a 2 hour "movie" on the SciFi channel in late 2007. Here's an interview with Jamie Bamber where he says as much on the second page:

Quote from: IGN.com interview with Jamie Bamber
This week saw the official announcement by SCI FI Channel of a Battlestar Galactica two-hour movie event, which will debut on the network at the end of 2007, before season four premieres in 2008. Bamber said he had not heard many details about it as yet, "Except that we'll come back early to make it. But I don't know if that's just two extra episodes that bridge the gap between season three and four or two episodes that take place during another time." Bamber noted the movie will be shot, "before season four, which I believe will be our last [season]."

And I liked the finale last night. Not as good as the season one or two finale I thought, but it leaves some good questions and stories open for this next season.

The TV movie's certainly good news, but it looks like it won't take place after the finale.

From an interview with Ron Moore:
Quote
There was no way we could pick up the cliffhanger in that format, and then ask people to wait to really start the season later. One of the story lines everyone had really liked was the Pegasus story and the character of Admiral Cain, so we decided to go with that.

Well, I think Lee quite nicely addressed the sheer ridiculousness of Baltar's trial.  The producers had originally wanted to try him on genocide charges, not collaboration, but they ended up compressing the "Baltar wipes out the Saggitareons" subplot into "Hey some dude we've never heard of is murdering people we don't like" instead.

Yeah, im glad someone finally addressed that trying Baltar is ridiculous, and set him free to become a cult leader or whatever hes going to be up to now. Seriously, what grounds did they have beyond disliking the guy? He appeased no more than anyone else and had all of humanity to die if he didnt, he was probably the collabarator with the best reason to do it. Not counting all the stuff they didnt know about, and the fact they werent trying him for being on board cylon ships or anything, it was weird.

And that episode.... yeah.... that was.... yeah.

I mean they CANT be cylons, surely, maybe brainwashed or something, they were all on new caprica right? Or something, I mean, as they started to gather I was like "they are cylons" but that they actually were... I cant see what radical plot twist or change they can make that could make that make any kind of sense. But im not seeing what new cylons would make any sense regardless of who they are, so, yeah.

And the end. Also somewhat easily predicted, but again, I really cant see what the hell could make that make much sense either. Anyway, they sold me on the song and sheer madness, plus freeing baltar, I will be there next season. Which will either have to be the most awesome season of all time, or they will have built things up too much and not adequately justify any of it and it will be the shows death knoll.

Also, they should make Baltar president again.

Sucks they won't be back until 2008...but at least that gives the writers some time to really plan out a good ending for the show. To keep going for more seasons would not be good at this point, I think this season has suffered from having too many one-off episodes: a deadline will probably give the show some more of the incredible tension that made the first season such a standout.

The Second Exodus, edited to fit Jimi Hendrix's cover of "All Along the Watchtower". Uploaded to YouTube on Nov. 23, 2006.

I never fail to be moved by the Galactica dropping out of the sky like a fucking rock, then suddenly jumping away. The Peggy taking three basestars down with it also gives me a tiny, secret thrill.

I probably shouldn't be sexually attracted to a TV show.

I'm with you, Kathana, I have the episode on my iPod and I usually skip forward to Galactica's atmospheric insertion and the battle in space. My nerdery reaches sexual levels as well.

I'd just like to point out, that while I'm not a fan of Battle Star Galactica, that comment goes perfectly with your new avatar gonz.

You're moved by bass and terrible vocals?

I liked that they didn't use the original, and I like that the cover they chose had a ton of heavy guitar, which is totally UNLIKE any sort of BSG music to date, getting the audience to pay attention.  The song choice was unbelievable, too, because All Along the Watchtower is a brilliantly constructed song subtly hinting at a brewing, powderkeg conflict between established order (the princes in the watchtower, with women and barefooted servants) and outsiders (the joker, the thief, the wildcat, teh storm).

But fuck, man.  Goosebumps?  I'm with Gonz.

Get off his fucking lawn.

I was just glad to see James Callis without the Jesus beard.

Just in response to some earlier posts, why does it matter that Kara was in a viper? Surely if she were a final 5 and got downloaded, the Cylons could provide her with a viper. It wasn't necessarily her viper, which did look pretty explodey when she "died." (Well, Lee could also be hallucinating/dreaming, but that would be a pretty fucked-up thing for the writers to do.)
