Halloween Update is out for a "limited time".

Goddamn you Valve for making me collect achievements and blowing people up with pumpkins when I should be studying.

It seems that Valve isn't finished giving free stuff to their customers. Anyone who pre-orders Left 4 Dead 2 gets Bill's hat in Team Fortress 2.

So, yeah.

Yeah vrywolf, I started out on Orange Box, then loved it so much I tried it on PC. That was 18 months ago, I must've logged 100 hours on XBox, and another 200 on PC (it's been at least a year's worth of lunch breaks).

Just out of curiosity, what's everyone's favorite maps? Personally, I've always had a thing for Well--it's got a lot of open space and ramps, which is all I need (as a Scout). On that note, what's everyone's favorite class?

2fort and Pipeline are my go to maps, but I've been playing a lot of the Halloween map recently.

My favorite class is Sniper. I have about 65 hours logged as him. For comparison, my next most played class, Engineer, has about 6 hours. So yeah.

I like the Payload maps, Badwater's probably my favourite out of all of them and I'm somewhat useless unless I'm playing an Engineer. I do suicidal-Pyro alright though and can dodge pretty well as a Medic, but that's about it. I've chalked up about 11 minutes as a Spy 'cause I'm so bad at it I feel like I'm punishing everyone involved playing as one.

Badwater is most certainly my favorite map as well.

I've chalked up the most time with the Spy; I played as spy incredibly often before the Sniper vs Spy update, and after the update the Spy is nearly all I play.  Took me forever to become just "okay" with the spy, but once you get somewhat decent the class is a blast to play as.

Behind the spy I've wracked up a lot of hours as the Pyro, too.  I like to think I'm not just a W + Mouse1 person, so usually I get killed really quickly trying to compression blast people / rockets / arrows / grenades / folk that are ubered.  I'm one of the asswipes that constant blasts a person in the sky when they're ubered.  I feel dirty when I do that, for some inexplainable reason.

I really like the 2fort maps, mostly because I can rack up some kills as a sniper, or chase people around as a punching Heavy if I got a Medic healing me. It's also a dirty shame of mine that I like the cyberpunk level because of its narrow corridor allows for easy Demoman exploding.

To put it in simple terms...There are, what, around fifteen, twenty basic maps/scenarios? Plenty of custom maps are around, too. Not to mention that a fair amount of maps require one team attacking, one defending. There are nine classes in all, so that's at least 180 possible things to do. 180 things to master. Fuck WoW, that is some longetivity. Plus random weapon drops, achievements, constant updates to classes...In short, Valve has made the eternal cash cow.

Pyro is my most played class, which is surprising considering it's the one class in TFC that I never gave the time of day.  Least played for me is either sniper or engineer, which were my two most-played classes in TFC.  The reason I don't play engineer anymore is because I used to play suicide engineer using EMP grenades, and I obviously can't do that anymore.

I've also got a fair amount of time in as heavy, soldier, medic, and scout, in that order.  I dabble in spying every now and then and while I've never been horribly successful, I am not a complete failure either.  I am a very good pyro on both offense and defense, however, so I tend to stick with that.

I've been a fan of Well since TFC and I like most of the payload maps.  There's another map that I don't know the name of offhand--it's assault style with one team trying to capture 5 points, and the last point is out on a circular platform that has an extending walkway that gets activated once point 4 has been captured (I think, it might take all 4 previous points for the walkway to come out).  I like that one, particularly on defense.

My most played class is Soldier, probably because Quake 3 already taught me a lot about rocket jumping and prediction. I also find myself playing Scout and Spy lots. Least played is Demoman, because I'm utterly terrible at it, and Engineer because I find it boring.

My favorite map is probably Badwater, but I really like the King of the Hill ones. Viaduct is awesome to play as, and with a competent Medic at my back I can push the enemy team back to spawn and completely wreck their shit.

Also the map you're thinking of is Steel, Remington. And it doesn't take all 4 points, you can first get a platform to the point after the 3rd capture, it's just really hard to take it then because you're all bottled up.

I don't like that map because I always get lost on it for some reason.

Why are some people just hooked to this game?

Because it's a challenging game that depends a lot on personal skill, but even more on teamwork and good communication.

Pyro, engie, and sniper are my most played classes, pyro being my strong suit. I just love flanking around with a Backburner and catching the other team off guard, or literally jumping into the action as a ninja-pyro and then wreaking havoc. It's probably why I like 2fort the best, although the Harvest map isn't too bad either when I simply want to turn off my brain and just fuck shit up.

I feel like pointing out that even without a backburner (DAMN YOU) I rock as a Pyro.  I really can't wait until I finally get one, though.  I never use my compression blast, and I'm always taking guys down from behind.

Did you know that while you're crit-boosted (for example, from the Halloween pumpkins), everything that you reflect with the compression blast becomes critical?

The compression blast is civilization.

People seem to know when you have a backburner, because they always turn around when you're coming. It's still a blast to use though. Coming behind a whole group of people and running through their fiery corpses is the greatest thing ever.
