For the love of Christ, shut up. No one post unless they have something useful to say about the PS3.
Jeez, so-rry. I'm sure I'm just distracting everyone from the important thingsbeing said here. We're discussing games on a comedy forum. You want to be serious about games, go to The Escapist.

I have run into a lot of people in real life recently claiming retarded things like "PS3 is way better, it's like running 9 and 1/2  x-boxes" and "PS3 is way better than the wii because the wii is a pseudosystem with no real power". Now I am a gamer who has owned and played extensively on all three systems and while the PS3 is impressive, I saw no indication that it was 10 times more powerful. I was wondering is this kind of thought widespread or localized to just my area and if it is widespread, does anyone know where this information is coming from?

I guess Sony is banking on a new 3D HD technology they have brewing for PS3.

Personally, I can't see many practical uses for that. We're all so engrained in the traditional perspective, that I doubt developers would really be able to wrap their heads around it in any way to make it anything more than a real gimmick.

The PS3 is my favorite system ever, because it is the single best system for hardcore gamers and has a much greater variety of games now for all types of people, inluding LittleBigPlanet, MGS4, and Killzone 2. Right now I feel the 360 is sort of coasting along, which is why I gave it away, while Wii is the least powerful with the worst online, although, its definitely the best place if you are casual or really into the titles they have (like Mario).

As someone who owns all 3 systems I'm going to go ahead and disagree with you. Whilst the PS3 is indeed a good machine, it lacks variety and PSN doesn't even come close to rivalling Xbox Live in terms of competitiveness and fun.

How does the PS3 lack variety, exactly?

Because the only games worth having all involve shooting people in the face, or are Little Big Planet.

Ah, I haven't gotten my Disgaea 3 or Valkyria Chronicles on my 360 or Wii.

Plus, Linger in Shadows and Noby Noby Boy are fantastic exercises in art and games.

I don't know, I guess I just feel that there aren't enough games for me to play on the PS3. I have Burnout Paradise, FlOw and Flower but all my other games involve killing people.

I think the main attraction for me is multiplayer these days, which is why my 360 seems more appealing.

LBP, Singstar, Burnout, fl0w, Flower, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (yeah, it's not the full game, but it's not the full price either), Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle Cars, Pain, Elefunk, Super Stardust HD, Wipeout HD, Pixeljunk Racers, Monsters and Eden, Calling All Cars (these are just the ones I own that don't involve shooting people).

Besides, prefering a 360 to the PS3 because of a reason involving the PS3 having too many shooting games is a bit strange.

Also, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, SARPBC, GT5P, Burnout Paradise, LBP, Crash Commando, Wipeout HD, Warhawk. What do they have in common? They're all brilliantly fun multiplayer and (with the exception of Burnout Paradise, which is also on 360 but better supported and running on PS3) PS3 exclusives.

I'm assuming you mean multiplayer with friends though, in which case, Live wins for now.

You assume incorrectly. Xbox Live is by far the better service, even without including real-life friends. It's just a more robust and enjoyable service on Live that PSN is yet to match.

Sony seems to have missed the point a tad with their online services, for example, the trophies were clearly brought in to match the achievements system of Xbox, but they got it completely wrong by not having a score and not easily being able to compare it to friends, rendering it pretty pointless and not inspiring me to actually try to get them.

Xbox Live, provided you mute the racists and homophobes is a great laugh, especially due to communication with your team-mates, something I find extremely lacking on PSN. Around 1 in 5 of the people I encounter on PSN have a mic and even then it's usually just the noise of their TV in the background.

For me the PS3 simply doesn't compare in terms of hardcore fun. Sure it looks slicker, is less likely to explode on me at any second and has some nice exclusives, but thus far I'm yet to get any kind of buzz from it like I do when booting up a brand new game on my 360.

Christ, when L4D and COD4 came out (when I only had my 360), I almost wet my adult pants with excitement, but with Killzone 2 and LBP I was amazed for a bit and still genuinely think they're good games, but I don't have an overwhelming desire to dive onto it when I get home from work.

Either my appetite for gaming in general is failing me these days, or the PS3 is simply underwhelming compared to my 360.

Oh man sorry Gamoc, MoonMilk totally won that throw down. There's no way after that stunning rebuttal that you'll be able to show your face around here anymore! I, for one, am glad this matter is finally settled.

Really? I mean, I've played quite a bit on Live (I borrowed my stepdad's 360 quite a bit before I got my PS3), but I never had anywhere near as much fun on it as I have had on PSN. I mean, Halo 3, for example, is mindless running around and shooting most of the time, regardless of everybody having mics, there's just no organisation.

Right now, if I go boot up Killzone 2 (which I will in a minute), I will see everyone doing the objectives, whether they're defending one or going after others, they're always doing something important, even though most of them didn't have mics - but with Halo 3 that had never happened, people just ran around like Mike (the headless chicken) shooting everything that moved whilst calling people gay.

Gears of War? Well, it was the same but with more gore.

Even Resistance 2, everyone ran to the objectives when they were running around. I saw everyone converge on the objective on the map, it was humbling to see some many people doing something together so well without even the use of mics, it works so well I was really quite astounded that it was happening when I saw it.

I'm not saying either is better than the other, though. I think they're both good in their own respects. I actually really want a 360, too, specifically for Left4Dead, Crackdown, Halo 3 (sometimes I do want mindless killing) and Gears/2.

Trophies? You level up from them, it displays the number of trophies you've got, and you can compare them side-by-side with friends. In this particular area, I think you're talking shit.

Hey, Pam, remember when I said this car was death proof? Well, that wasn't a lie. This car is 100% death proof. Only to get the benefit of it, honey, you REALLY need to be sitting in my seat. : :BAMM!!: :

I would rather have TV sounds with the occasional "ok guys lets meet up here or something to win the game" then to hear a bunch of neglected, poorly watched, who-should-have-been-aborted-when-there-was-a-window-of-opportunity children trying to be funny while at the same time swearing because it makes them feel like God is going to pat 'em on the back and say "you're teh awesome...you get to live forevers and evers cuz you so damned cool". Sure I have experienced these children but it's not as often as xbox live...

Did you miss the part about where you can mute them, often with very easy to use in-game menus?

How do I level up? And to what purpose? Also, since I only have about 2 "friends" on PSN, due to the lack of communication, I didn't know you could actually compare them side by side. So perhaps I am talking shit.
