I brought this up in IRC, but I was wondering if you guys that are quitting the booze knew how much it affected you before you decided to give it up? It seems that some of you were kind of "Hey, I'm in" all casual-like in the begining and now you're going through Hell. Was the Hell expected? Were you at least somewhat prepared for what was going to happen?

Also, I'm afraid to watch that video after reading the comments. I'm not sure I want to know what these hooligans are up to when I'm work.

Yeah, I'm still waiting for my sammich.

It took me until now to work out what a sammich is. Damn, but we women are stupid!

It's a sandwich, isn't it? Please tell me it's a sandwich, I really don't want to be wrong again.

He's president of the European Council - a job that has been slightly modified by the Lisbon treaty, but it's not like it's a totally new position with mad power.

The difference is that the post used to be filled on a rotary system that sucked balls and didn't allow for continuity. Now they elected a guy for a period of 2 1/2 years to do that. He has been elected by the representatives we elected, so there's nothing fishy about it.

I'm all for freedom of the press, but the tabloids are showing once more how well they do fearmongering. Aaaaah, we have a president now, no one asked us! - Bullshit, there were even referendums on the Lisbon treaty. If you feel you haven't been asked, you just didn't care. The scope of this new post is being greatly exaggerated, which is debunked easily by about 2 minutes of googling.

Oh, and as a citizen of the European Union, I want to ask my fellow citizens in Britain: What is wrong with you people? Your country signed the treaties, so you're in. With that commitment you took (and the representation you have been given) the EU for you should have become "we", not "them". Stop treating it like this sinister external force, you're part of it and you have influence, same as anyone else. (Sorry for calling out the Brits, but it does seem like your country is especially prone to go batshit insane about European policy. Quite possibly my perceptions are skewed, but it looks like at least all the subscribers to the Daily Mail and various other news sources could use some educating about what the European Union is/does.)

The scary thing is, if Britain had a referendum on the EU, we'd probably vote to leave it.

I think it'll be good to have a representative for the EU on the world stage. But I think a popular election would have given the EU some of the legitimacy it needs, as well as make people feel less like it was something imposed from outside.

That said, only a few countries actually had referenda on Lisbon. And for those that voted against it, it was just repackaged and sent to the polls again.

Once I went to my mall's Gamestop to find Mario Galaxy as the small game store I usually go to was out of copies. I go up the counter and I ask if they have any -sealed- copies of the game. The employee laughs at says "The Wii is for faggots" I said "Excuse me? Get your manager"

Long story short, kid got canned on the spot. I can't believe any place would hire people -that- stupid that they'd openly 1. insult 2. discriminate potential customers.

PS: I always ask for sealed games when I have to buy from Gamestop because I know they like to "Rent" games before they hit the street date.

It's because taking a knife to your own face is the ONLY thing besides getting in a fight with a larger opponent that shows you have iron balls. (Or iron ovaries, for the few women who have also done it).

Sugababes is always a safe bet for good pop music, despite the stupid name.

Too Lost in You
Hole In The Head
Stronger
Change

Also, while we're on the topic of Lady Gaga, have you heard Beautiful, Dirty, Rich? Say what you want about her, she knows how to make a catchy song.

I don't trust it. The best bit of WOM was the whole gun-head-list exchange, and that was the only bit they released. RTD does alright with funny, lighthearted banter and total cock with plot, and that preview was 90% banter.

I'll still watch it but I won't trust it.

Well but that gets back to what Binary was saying, that it was written to be passed around a circle of people who already think this way. It's part of the bubbles we all live in now, fundamentalist Christians making sure they only surround themselves with other fundamentalist Christians, and only listening to Christian music and reading Christian books and watching Christian TV. Substitute "Christian" with whatever belief system you want and you find that same thing, people building an insulated echo chamber to pass around the same opinions over and over and doing everything they can to make sure nothing else can penetrate.

"Circle jerk" is the term some use.
