The Warcraft Prophecy

The second-most popular article I ever wrote was this 2005 article on how online gaming would change the future, where I said the kind of virtual interaction you see in MMOs would be a sort of model for how all of society would work in the future.

Well I bring this up three years later because this WIRED article about a guy who got rich selling virtual goods touches on the same point.

And it points out that the sale of in-game goods for real-world money is now a TWO BILLION DOLLAR INDUSTRY. Billion! Holy shit!
