When it comes to medical research I would rather listen to doctors, scientist and people that, overall, have expertise in the medical field, than a former Playmate that "feels" that his child was getting autism when he got his vaccines... If he had autism to begin with...

I think that beyond the Autism-Vaccines correlation (an utter fallacy), this article also shows the stupidity of the "Celebrity Cult" and the anti-scientific and pseudo-scientific feeling that a lot of people seem to share.

How can it be that just because a B-Grade "actress" got airtime in a popular (if highly idiotic) talkshow, that makes her a believable and certified authority about autism with a higher credibility rate than Doctors and medical researchers?

Does McCarthy realize the utter irresponsibility of shout her half-assed information in a forum with such a reach?

Or Winfrey for give her the air time to do so?

A doctor wasn't telling her how to show her tits and spread her legs during her photo sessions, so she shouldn't tell doctors how to save lives...

My aunt is a doctor, and she doesn't think vaccinations cause autism. She has also given birth to children (one of which is autistic) - does this mythical insight only appear if you have exposed your privates for the whole world to see?

It's really frustrating that people don't understand that correlation doesn't imply causation. My favorite example: There is a strong positive correlation between ice cream consumption and drowning deaths. Does ice cream make you a terrible swimmer? No, but when it's warmer more people eat ice cream and more people go swimming.

"Laugh it up. Autism will find some of your children and wipe the smirk right off your face."

Um, I think you (along with several others) ENTIRELY missed the point of this article. Really. Not ONCE did I see any derogatory comments aimed at those with Autism. To Supercreep and everyone else 'cursing our children' over this article and the comments below: Pull your heads out of your asses...seriously.

I posted this link on my facebook. I'm sorry Jenny but you really are just sad that your child is autistic and wish that there was something you could have done to save him. I feel for her but there is no reason to say no to vaccines ( that have saved millions of lives) because your kid has a certain condition you'd rather he didn't have.

Everyone who loses a child to the lack of herd immunity should send a picture of their child to her, informing her she is responsible for the death of a child.

While I don't claim to be a doctor or an expert in medicine, I have seen that some vaccines do have harmful side effects. My cousin, who is 12 and perfectly healthy, went to get a vaccine once, and 10 minutes later, she had passed out in the doctor's office. Now this doesn't mean that every darn vaccine out there is dangerous, but one should do some research before blindly agreeing to something because the doctor says so.

You know, I wish I could say, "So what? Let the stupid parents keep their children unvaccinated. Then when their kids get snuffed out, it'll be natural selection at work, making sure the stupid parent's genes aren't being passed on."

But that's not how vaccinations work. If you want to protect a population, virtually EVERYBODY has to be vaccinated.
