Cracked sells out loves Fido.
Have you heard of the movie Fido?
It’s kind of fucking awesome.
And I don’t just say that because the studio behind Fido is pouring its advertising dollars into Cracked.com with that custom header treatment above. I say it because the studio behind Fido is pouring a ton of its advertising dollars into Cracked.com. Seriously — we’re thinking of ordering pizzas tonight. With extra cheese.
Fido even commissioned a completely unbiased, Halloween-and-Fido-themed piece from us.
Frankly, though, if Cracked is going to sell out to corporate advertisers, it’s pretty sweet that it’s starting with a movie that can be described as follows:
Timmy Robinson’s best friend in the whole wide world is a six-foot tall rotting zombie named Fido. But when FIDO eats the next-door neighbor, Mom and Dad hit the roof…
Hell yeah.

Juggadore, you are totally right. We are going to go with Plan B: Charging $1,000 per article you read on the site. (But don’t worry! Blog posts are just $899.)
Your bill $899.00.

I know I’m totally biased as well on this, but I actually found the Fido ad refreshingly unobtrusive. Go check out what Superdeluxe has been doing to their once-beautiful site and you’ll appreciate a little creativity in advertising.

Yeah, I didn’t even notice the ad until I saw this. It also beats having to pay money to register on the forums, am I right?

You ARE right, Mr. Bob. An unobtrusive banner advertising what might be the most important film of our generation, (that involves zombies), beats the HELL out of paying money to register on the forums.

Ok this movie is one of the boriest movie i ve seen this year, everything is flat, if you want zombie humor go rent or buy shaun of the dead. Fido is bad acting, bad writing and bad directing ! Did i mention it was boring ?
But the ad don’t bother me

i understand what you guys are saying. you need money to produce a product. and if you make people to pay to comment on your forums, you wouldnt make money because everyone would comment on the digg forums.
i also didnt notice the ad before i read the post, which goes to say that the post points out the ad. i guess when you run an accomplished business, google ads arent gonna cut it. if only there was a way to make money and keep credibility….
hmm… maybe if you kept the ads from spilling into the material? sorry about the boo’ing earlier. i’m a philadelphian. that’s what we do!

Well I for one find it amusing to see the honesty about this sort of stuff. You do what you have to do—and if you also agree with it in the process, all the better. I mean, now I’m at least mildly curious to look into the movie, if only because I loved Shaun of the Dead.

As long as I’m not paying for the pleasure of perusing (I can’t help my alliteration usage) this website, you guys are free to sell out all you want. Especially when the ads are as compact and non-flashy as this one has been.
When it gets to Myspace-status, jiggling banner ads that prompt me to throw up all over a penguin faster than the blonde, then I might start lighting torches.

No juggadore, you’re wrong,
google ads are ok. giant banner-replacing ads with subsequent posts about how good that product is…. is totally awesome
THATS a credibility thing.
lol. You’re right Juggadore, you’re right. I’m pissed they sold out too.

Sold out? I hardly think so. First and foremost, Cracked.com is a business with employees who have salaries that must be paid. Cracked isn’t a news site with credibility on the line. Cracked’s entire purpose is to make you laugh, and if it can accomplish that, no one should be in the least concerned about how they pay the bills.

I just want you all to know that I am fully supporting Cracked and the creators of Fido by illegally downloading this movie without any further hesitation.
HaHa! Just kidding FBI!
But no…not really.
