When you have a couple frames it leaves very little room for build up, so it's extremely hard to make something side-splittingly funny in a strip. Okay, I think I get it. The joke that I ascribed to this comic was definitely funny; I assume it was the intended one. Although it would have been better if the wish balloon was drawn in such a way that you think it's coming out of the boy's head, but it's actually coming out of the dad's head. Don't ask me how you'd draw that; it's your job. Especially since, from what I gathered, it was the dad who made the wish.
