If Zany Animal Adventures Had Realistic Endings

Sorry but this sucked. It wasn't subtle, intelligent, or even remotely funny. Not laugh out loud or 'hey that's pretty clever' funny. It was just painfully dumb and the fact it has to be explained (and so many of the explanations might as well be correct for all we know) kind of proves it didn't hit it's mark. You know what they say about when a joke has to be explained. Why don't you guys put up polling so that people can vote for whether it was funny or not, then when you get overwhelming not's you can remove this crap from the website.

I don't get why people aren't getting the joke. In a cartoon, if a gorilla and a giraffe were in a car and drove under a low tunnel, the giraffe would get smacked in the face and hilarity would ensue. Because it's reality, and gorillas can't actually drive in the real world, they instead pass safely under the bridge, as bridges need to be taller than your average giraffe, and crash over the edge of the cliff. It's nothing to do with the gorilla losing concentration while driving, they just can't drive.

Wow, johnvince, you really have a chip on your shoulder, there. Let me break down this hilarious comic for you: Note that the title of the series is "If Zany Animal Adventures Had Realistic Endings." "Zany Animal Adventures" brings to mind silly scenarios cartoon animals often find themselves in... like driving cars. The "low clearance" sign would lead us to believe that the giraffe will have trouble clearing the tunnel. In a typical cartoon we would expect the giraffe to hit his head. However, in this fine strip, the giraffe makes it through safe. But then, in a twist of irony, the car careens off the side of the road, because animals cannot, in fact, drive. The reader expects a cartoon ending, what we got was a realistic ending. Note it's the ending (dead animals) that is supposed to be realistic, not the set up (driving animals), as explained in the title. I can't wait for more, I laughed pretty hard at this one.

It's a bait and switch. The Low Clearance sign allegedly makes you think the giraffe will be decapitated. But they end up driving off a cliff. I don't think it's funny, but that's the joke. Part of the problem is the art is too awful to pull off a perspective joke. Another one is the punchline is obvious.
