If Zany Animal Adventures Had Realistic Endings
Fatawesome is a sketch group from Boston. We've featured a bunch of their videos and recently started publishing their webcomic. In this week's update, we see two animals with unrealistic expectations make a zany break for it ...
they first time i saw this, i thought it was a false suspense comic. The reader fears that the giraffe will be beheaded, so it's a relief when he makes it through the tunnel, but because it's a comic and has to be funny, they end up both dying in the end in irony

They are running from the zoo keepers and are approaching a very high tunnel with a false sign that reads "Low Clearance." The ape and girafe gaze into each others eyes knowing that their short lived freedom has come to an end. They can choose their own death. The emotional connection is made and they agree that ape will actually drive as fast as possible through the tunnel and meet their well thought out demise. It was a Thelma and Louise ending.

ReplyHmm. I thought the Girrafe was going to hit it's head on the top and die, or some equally gruesome thing would happen to it while it tried to avoid that fate.

I didn't get it at first, but once I got it, I really did laugh at its simplicity. Hint: They're f**king animals, and animals can't drive.

ReplySorry but this sucked. It wasn't subtle, intelligent, or even remotely funny. Not laugh out loud or 'hey that's pretty clever' funny. It was just painfully dumb and the fact it has to be explained (and so many of the explanations might as well be correct for all we know) kind of proves it didn't hit it's mark.

Why don't you guys put up polling so that people can vote for whether it was funny or not, then when you get overwhelming not's you can remove this crap from the website.

These guys have yet to produce anything that even makes me smile. At least this isn't as awful or as grating as that "Oregon Trail" video they made. Christ, that was awful...

ReplyThis was funny. And I'm very sad that not only did some people not get it, but others thought it was a joke about a giraffe giving a gorilla head. If you don't think it's funny that's fine, but at least grasp the concept.
ReplyI don't get why people aren't getting the joke. In a cartoon, if a gorilla and a giraffe were in a car and drove under a low tunnel, the giraffe would get smacked in the face and hilarity would ensue. Because it's reality, and gorillas can't actually drive in the real world, they instead pass safely under the bridge, as bridges need to be taller than your average giraffe, and crash over the edge of the cliff. It's nothing to do with the gorilla losing concentration while driving, they just can't drive.
Replyi've been to the site, and the hardest part isnt trying to understand the jokes, but the real challenge is trying to bring yourself to think they're even remotely funny.

And don't get mad because you didn't get the joke. Not everyone gets everything (unless your mom, a bottle of everclear and a scratch off lotto ticket is involved).
